Mick, I only now am seeing the article in the May 2010 issue. I get them 3rd hand so it takes a while to get them. I almost missed it. I had known about the project before. But as I was reading it, it took a 2nd glance at your picture before I realized it was you and what I was reading. Then  I noticed the drawing you are holding and it all came back. Very nice write up.

Thanks Dave,
That 2010 Camaro was eventually sold by Popular Mechanics themselves (would you believe for only $30K after 110K went into it) after the car made a short tour of Auto shows last year.
It was even admired and driven by Jay Leno.

I left Netcong (on good terms) last year and I still visit everyone at that shop quite regularly.
For those who don't have a clue what all this is about (not Xmas BTW), please click this link.....
BTW, I'm the only one there with a pony tail..lol,    or click PM Top Shop   (Tho' PM has since upgraded that link to show their 2011 Mustang/bike project, undertaken at Netcong last winter).

Regarding the electronics, which included a kick-ass sound system and a full function wi-fi computer (which swung out of the glove box with a printer concealed in the rear armrest)...  It was actually the ability to drive this Camaro with NO lights at night which made this car even more special.  It had a FLIR system fed to a pair of 16:9 HD screens on the dropped down sun visors. ... and when you DID need those quad Hi-intensity headlights, the high beams would light the road almost a mile ahead. The HD screens could also display a DVD, or a video game in the back seat.
The retro styling also became a subtle tribute to the famous "Bandit" Transam, as a state of the art getaway car.... the GPS & FLIR combined would allow you to go places that other cars could not venture at night, with or without lights (an option that is impossible on factory cars with FLIR).  However, the Camaro trunk capacity was substantially reduced, so only a few crates o' moonshine & NO golf clubs!
It was almost overwhelming to drive that thing... 650HP, with WAY more than average ameneties !
Car Customizing and Design Shop
.....This was me building one of the two twin headlight assemblies (by using 4 single units @ $1200 each and morphing them into one piece pairs)....  so yeah... I still "do" lights too!
BTW, the '66 Mustang in the background was just one of our many ongoing restoration projects.

Update... After two years elsewhere, I'm returning to Netcong as shop manager starting May 7th.
Including the Mon-Fri commute, this situation means less available time spent home working on the book, new visuals and other projects I had going... however, I struck a deal which enables me to take extended weekends off for my light show engagements such as Cleveland on the 26th & The Midsummer Meltdown in June.
