Comments: Next came A Tab in the Ocean, Journey to the Centre of the Eye, Recycled then Sounds Like This - yes, totally non-chronological, I know! - and each album I found something delightful and addictive in it's own way. Just a brilliant band with a superb vision.
My aim now is to absorb their whole back catalog, buy some merchandise (anything collectible would be great) and, were it not for the devastating passing of Roye Albrighton - taken from the world about a month or two after I discovered Nektar, which [selfishly] feels unimaginably cruel - I would be itching to see them play live, if they were ever to tour again. It doesn't seem likely now, certainly not in the same, true guise.
They'll never die in our hearts though. Just never gets old. I've got Remember the Future Pt.2 as I type this, still as beautiful as on the first listen.
Comments: I don't quite know how I find myself here, other than for the sheer quality - majesty! - of the band itself. I'm 25 years old and have reached my musical zenith: embraced prog rock. I haven't looked back, and Nektar were the band that started it all.
I came across them entirely by chance. I thought Remember the Future was utterly beguiling on the first listen, and I was hooked right away. I laugh now, but at the time I tried to find a radio edit/cut of the funkier ending to Pt. 2, the kind of music I gravitate towards. So naive, so ignorant! Like any good prog rock fan I'm disgusted at the notion of cutting down when we should be building, extending, cascading, complexifying. The simplistic early hooks melt away into the background once you get a taste for the expansive, ambitious depth that the best of prog delivers - and Nektar are definitely up there with the best. To me, they are the best.

Comments: Just to say, 2016 was not a good year for Nektar as a whole, thus very little to add over on the forum. I also needed to do "something" to show some kind of activity here on the main site.
