Can anyone remember which 1971ish show had the early version of Returning Light? Sandy(RIP) talked about it a few times and even released it on one of his Fan Club releases.

Hm, must check the CDs at home. There are not that many 1971/2 recordings so this should be easy to find, right?

There is an early "Bluebird" on the Heidelberg Release gig, Apr. 14th 1972 as well as a few jams.
There also may be something on the Schlosskellar rehearsal tapes from 1971 (not the 1970 gig).
I don't have a track listing on Sandys' CD, so maybe it's time I played it.... but not right now...lol.

The only CDR I have with a cover (I have other shows on hard disk, not burnt to CDR; I also have some CDRs still tracklisting) is 1971-05-15 Ludwig-Georg-Gymnasium (or is that Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium?), Darmstadt (89:07). Got it without a tracklisting and this is what I wrote down:
1. Journey To The Centre Of The Eye (43:19)
2. A Tab In The Ocean (16:01)
3. Remember The Future (early version) (7:31)
4. 1-2-3-4 (12:48)
5. Do You Believe In Magic? (6:30)

Not sure if Journey and Tab were named like that or still had a different title. Laptop does not have a CD player anymore, so I can't check at the moment.

I have Sandy's 3CD with the 1971 show, but his tracklisting might not include all jams or snippets of songs to come.

We can rule out the one that had the early bluebird song that was inside of the We Are The Ocean song.

O.K. , not so fast Wayne... There IS an early "Lonely Roads" within the "We are the Ocean" section (Disc 2, Track 3) on  LGG Darmstadt from May 1971. This may be what you are referring to Jerry. I also let it continue into a rather interesting 1-2-3-4.  Darmstadt was "home turf", thus most recordings made around Darmstadt in the early seventies usually contained experimental new pieces & long jams.
Nektar ALWAYS brought something new or different to the table whenever we returned to an area.

Mick, that is a different LGG Darmstadt from May 1971 or do I not have the complete show?

Oh wait, on setlist.fm I see this for 1971-03-15 LGG and apparently *I* added it (so it must be on my external hard drive, I don't have it on CDR):

1. A Drop In The Ocean
2. We Are The Ocean
3. Walking Down Lonely Roads
4. 1-2-3-4
5. Journey To The Centre Of The Eye

Two 1971 LGG shows: March 15 and May 15... Is this correct, Mick? If your "disc 2, track 3" is correct, my setlist for March 15 is far from complete.
